        Domaine partagé (Gilles Berlioz)

The domain we want to introduce you to is well and truly engaged. The term ‘partagé’ (shared), so dear to Christine and Gilles Berlioz, has been chosen to signify how their work is founded on the connection between all members of the team, the exchange of ideas and trust between them.

It has now been thirty years since Gilles Berlioz changed career paths from landscaping to wine making. Passionate and modest, he is careful in the cultivation of his Chignin terroirs, going as far as to work his land with horses. Converted to organic growing in 2005, this 5-hectare domain has recently been certified biodynamic by Demeter. The wines, vinified as one cuvée per terroir, are wonderfully accomplished, pure, mineral and delicate. They aren't made in large quantities, but these cuvées perfectly represent their terroirs. Impassioned by the evolution of his work, Gilles Berlioz is always looking for new ways to improve his vines and growing techniques, always with the aim of better respecting the nature that surrounds him.

        WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

        BETTANE & DESSEAUVE

The wines are pure and age well. The 2016 and 2017 vintages are great successes with a smaller range. In 2018, a vintage of quality and quantity alike, the young whites lost in finesse what the Mondeuse gained in complexity and juice.

LA REVUE DU VIN DE FRANCE

All of these wines offer clean, serene expressions with great depth of flavour. Seasoned wine lovers fight over these masterful cuvées, very limited in volume. The domain’s welcome is warm and passionate. A must-try producer, to whom we are very happy to accord a second star.
