Information
It has now been thirty years since Gilles Berlioz changed career paths from landscaping to wine making. Passionate and modest, he is careful in the cultivation of his Chignin terroirs, going as far as to work his land with horses. Converted to organic growing in 2005, this 5-hectare domain has recently been certified biodynamic by Demeter. The wines, vinified as one cuvée per terroir, are wonderfully accomplished, pure, mineral and delicate. They aren't made in large quantities, but these cuvées perfectly represent their terroirs. Impassioned by the evolution of his work, Gilles Berlioz is always looking for new ways to improve his vines and growing techniques, always with the aim of better respecting the nature that surrounds him.
As always, Gilles Berlioz produced this single-parcel cuvée by eschewing inputs, yeasts and only using tiny quantities of sulfites. The berries were left to ferment in low temperatures. Tasted within its first ten years, with freshwater fish or Savoy cheeses, this wine has a beautifully intense, yellow colour. On the palate, a pronounced minerality elevates the fruity and floral bouquet of this Roussanne.
