Information
Meet Jérôme François, THE trailblazer transforming the Alsace wine landscape! With his unique journey and fresh philosophy, he crafts exceptional wines that truly reflect his personality through a confidential production. Now at the helm of seven hectares of vines, Jérôme François nurtures his passion for viticulture, inspired by his grandfather’s legacy. A passionate advocate for the environment, he champions low-intervention viticulture based on biodynamic principles, and his estate is certified organic. Another standout feature of the estate is the practice of complantation, with different grape varieties planted alongside one another on all the plots. As you stroll through the vineyards during ploughing, you might catch a glimpse of Sirus and Factoche, the estate’s hardworking horses.
His wines boast a unique signature that is subtle, delicate and pure, combining great depth and flawless precision. Jérôme François strives to highlight the rich variety of Alsatian grape varieties and the diversity of its soils. This charming estate flourishes across a vibrant mosaic of terroirs, each one lovingly tended to preserve its unique character.
The Grange de l’Oncle Charles is a unique Alsatian estate combining organic and biodynamic viticulture with horse-drawn tillage. Jérôme François is an expert in blending his wines, and his La Belle Colline vintage is a delicious combination of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
The vines thrive on south-facing, marly slopes at both ends of the Schoenenbourg Grand Cru. Harvested by hand, the grapes are fermented together and the resulting wine is aged for a year on its lees in old French oak casks. In the spirit of a vinification that respects both the vines and the consumer, no additives are added during the bottling process.
Purity and intensity emerge on the nose. Fresh flowers and yellow fruit are complemented by discreet hints of citrus. On tasting, the minerality is more pronounced, with dominant fruit flavours of pineapple and lemon. The finish offers a refined bitterness and a hint of salinity that tantalises the taste buds.
