Information
This Premier Cru of nearly three hectares rubs shoulders with the greatest appellations, as only the Route des Grands Crus separates it from Chapelle-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin. Charles Van Canneyt, who created his own trading business in 2012 alongside running the family Hudelot-Noëllat domain, buys the Pinot Noir grown on the reddish soils of Les Cherbaudes, a climat found in Gevrey.
In the cellar, he uses a traditional winemaking method and intervenes as little as possible. Natural yeasts ferment the grapes, and then, after three weeks in vats, the wine is placed in oak barrels where it continues to mature for eighteen months. This ruby red cuvée reveals a charming nose full of cherries, strawberries, and orange zest which enhances the underlying minerality. Following the smooth initial drop, the wine shows that it is dense, well-ripened, and structured by fine tannins. A wine that can be left for many years in the cellar.
