Information
Charles Van Canneyt is none other than the grandson of Alain Hudelot-Noëllat, winemaker at the eponymous estate. Within the structure that bears his name, which was established in 2012, Charles Van Canneyt has created this red Grand Cru made from Pinot Noir, the region’s noble grape variety par excellence. The vines benefit from a semi-continental climate with an oceanic influence, and draw the nutrients they need to flourish from the marl and limestone soils. This subtle combination of soils produces a silky wine that is ideal for ageing, structured by fine-grained tannins. We recommend cellaring it for at least five years to allow it to evolve towards tertiary notes reminiscent of toast, cocoa and mushrooms, enriching the delicate touches of red fruit and violets that already characterise it. On the palate, this deep wine promises excellent pairings with game or meat in sauce with homemade mashed potatoes.
