Information
Domaine Bastide Blanche is one of the leading Bandol wine estates. When Michel Bronzo and his father Baptistin acquired the property in 1972, it stretched over 10 hectares at the foot of the Le Castellet commune in AOC Bandol. They began work constructing a winery and undergoing a complete replanting and restructuring of the domaine, gradually extending its reach over the years. Today it covers a considerable 48 hectares of hillside vineyard. The vines have been certified organic since 2012 and winegrowning is influenced by biodynamic viticulture methods. The winemaking process is as natural as possible, using only indigenous yeasts, gentle extractions and long maceration. Maturation occurs in large containers: either vats or demi-muids. The wines produced by this domaine are some of the most expressive of this appellation and extremely well-regarded by fans of Bandol.
This elegant rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Syrah, grown on clay-limestone soils. Informed by the tenets of biodynamic viticulture, the Mourvèdre grapes are pressed directly whilst the Cinsault and Grenache first undergo skin-contact maceration. Malolactic fermentation is blocked to retain freshness. The wine is matured for between 4–10 months in vats. Its pale salmon-pink colour offers aromas of fruit and spice, whilst in the mouth it is full-bodied and lively, culminating in generous fruity notes which marry very well with grilled red mullet.
