Information
Established at the end of the 19th century, Domaine Coursodon has been in the same family for generations and has practised sustainable farming for several decades. Its 15 hectares of vineyards, all within the Saint-Joseph appellation, are cultivated for both red and white Saint-Joseph wines (13 hectares red and 2 hectares white). Located primarily in the Mauves area, the vineyard's granite terroir is ideal for growing Syrah. Pierre Coursodon and his son Jérôme currently manage the property and produce delicate and elegant wines.
The Coursodon family sustainably cultivates its Syrah grapes in schist and granite soils. The grapes undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration and open-vat fermentation for a fortnight, punctuated by two daily punch-downs. The wine is then matured in oak barrels (pièces, demi-muids) for one year. One for drinking with delicate meat dishes: it has a seductively racy nose of red berries and spices, as well as a well-balanced palate, with mellow tannins and a long finish.
