Hermitage Ermitage Le Méal Ferraton Père et Fils (Domaine) 2001
The wine
This cuvée comes from Syrah grown on south-facing pebbly terraces. Destemmed, vinified in concrete vats and matured in oak barrels for between 14 and 18 months, it has an intense register, rich in notes of small black fruit and leather. Powerful, concentrated, full-bodied and persistent, this cuvée can be kept for a considerably long time.
About the Producer Ferraton Père et Fils
Domaine Ferraton began in 1946 on the impulse of a winemaker's son, Jean Orëns Ferraton. Following in his footsteps, his own son Michel took to the helm and dedicated himself to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Synthetic inputs, fertilisers and pesticides are prohibited on this vineyard which stretches out between the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations. We can tell you this for free: the single-vineyard cuvées from this domain are heralded for their subtlety and rarity.
