Like the wines of Bernard Dugat-Py, this Pommard can compete with many Premier Crus and is similar to a Gevrey. A concentrated and very delicate wine, it will improve superbly after ageing for 2 to 5 years.

Pommard La Levrière Vieilles Vignes Dugat-Py 2007
The wine
After all its successes in the Côte de Nuits, the domaine decided to take on a new challenge: to produce great wines in the Côte de Beaune. And since the early 2000s, that's exactly what it has been doing. The domaine has acquired superb vineyard parcels in Pommard, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pernand-Vergelesses and Corton-Charlemagne. Just like all Bernard Dugat-Py's wines, this Pommard – which, with its Gevrey-like traits, ranks alongside many a premier cru – is a concentrated and very fine wine. It is superb, and will improve after two to five years' aging.
About the Producer Dugat-Py
A true genius when it comes to vinification, Bernard Dugat acquired his first parcel in 1973, when he was only 15! Gradually, the domain grew through successive purchases of grand crus, mostly in Charmes-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin, but also in the village and regional appellations. The wines truly reflect the Gevrey terroir. Above all, the aim is to allow the terroir to express itself. Yields are limited in order to maximise concentration; a traditional and careful maturing in barrels (between 50 to 100% new oak) is carried out for 14 to 18 months.
