Château Louis 2009
The wine
This cuvée is the domaine’s flagship cuvée and is made from the forty-year-old vines that grow on the clay and limestone terroir so typical of Saint-Emilion. Yields are restricted to ensure grapes of the highest quality and concentration. Hand harvests, vinifications in thermoregulated wooden vats and 15 months ageing in new oak barriques bestow this wine with a supple texture, reinforced tannins and aromatic complexity. Beyond the fruit characteristics of this wine (plum, blackcurrant) are toasty, spiced notes.
About the Producer Château Louis
Château Louis is an 8-hectare estate located in the Saint-Emilion appellation. It was once called Rol de Fombrage. The domain is constantly innovating; the vineyard has been redesigned, the wooden vats replaced and the winery now guarantees healthy, good-quality élevages. Stéphane Derenoncourt supervises vinifications. A must-try.
