Connétable de Talbot Second Vin 1994
The wine
Connétable de Talbot is the second wine of the prestigious Château Talbot. Made from the plots of younger vines, this wine is vinified and raised undergrowth (1/2 new wood) and it offers superb freshness, lots of body and magnificent fruit.
About the Producer Château Talbot
An 1855 Cru Classé, Château Talbot which has been owned by the Cordier family for over a century is considered the “brother” of Domaine Saint Andrieu and Château Sénéjac. Nancy Bignon Cordier and her husband Jean-Paul run the 110-hectare property today in the heart of the Saint-Julian appellation. In 2018, the estate obtained the French ‘Haute Valeur Environnementale’ (High Environmental Value) level 3 certification.
Advised by the oenologist Eric Boissenot, they aim to showcase the specialities of the terroir in their wines. Fine Günzian gravel sits atop a clay bedrock and the vines planted on this soil are mainly red but the château producers a lesser-known white wine. The grapes are harvested by hand before being heavily sorted and vinified in stainless steel and wooden vats. Ageing takes place in wooden barrique barrels. Regular tasting allows the team to continue adapting their techniques to suit the wine. The property releases wines that will please enthusiasts’ taste buds and are long lasting elixirs as Désiré Cordier wished them to be.
