Cahors Château de Chambert Cuvée Orphée 2001
The wine
Named a ‘Grand Vin’ of the 2007 vintage, the cuvée Orphée comes from the estate’s best parcels. It’s a balanced wine, at once powerful and finely fresh. The nose is delicate, fruity, and spicy (liquorice). On the palate, it is rather powerful, with tight tannins. This cuvée of pure, biodynamic Malbec is produced in small quantities and matured for 12-18 months in French oak barrels.
About the Producer Château de Chambert
The Château de Chambert is a historic vineyard which has been cultivated for centuries. The vineyard spreads over 60 hectares of beautiful terroir, culminating on the high slopes of Cahors. Certified both organic and biodynamic, in 2007 the domain was bought by Philippe Lejeune, on the advise of Stéphane Derenoncourt. The wines are already of very good quality and they're constantly evolving.
