Information
You will already be familiar with Arnaud Ente, an iconic figure of the Meursault appellation. Benoit Ente is his brother, and is blessed with the same talents of vigneron and winemaker. In 1997, Benoit and Arnaud Ente each inherited three hectares of vines from their grandfather. After buying new parcels in 2014, Benoit Ente expanded his domain which now covers six hectares. It is farmed sustainably, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Aligoté. The soils are looked after without chemical fertilisers or weedkillers. Harvests are manual and small cases are used to transport the grapes, so that the grapes don't get crushed on their way back to the winery. Vinifications are spread over the course of 18 months, and élevage – in vats and barrels – lasts one year.
Domaine Benoit Ente is among the most prestigious terroirs in Burgundy, with superb vines stretching across Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Each plot of Pinot Noir, climbing on clay-limestone soils, has been cultivated according to sustainable viticulture and a philosophy designed to showcase the beauty and authenticity of the terroir since 1990. In the winery, the estate vinifies its Pinot Noir grapes, according to traditional methods, in ‘foudres’ (large wooden tuns) and vats, to allow the fruit to express its delicate aromas with great precision. This 100% Pinot Noir is aged for several months before being bottled unfiltered.
The deep red colour is complemented by an expressive bouquet that harmoniously blends blueberry aromas with hints of cherry. The structured, luscious mouthfeel reveals a masculine, full body, leading to a fascinatingly long finish. A superb Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed young for its fruit, or after several years’ cellaring.
