Information
Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.
The hillsides of the Sierra de Gredos, between Madrid and Ávila, are home to the Comando G. Collective. This team of young, determined winemakers is on a mission to restore this terroir to its former glory, delivering their own interpretation of the Vinos de Madrid appellation, located around the Spanish capital. This white wine consists entirely of Albillo Real, a local grape variety with creamy properties. Vinification is conducted in harmony with the environment, following certified organic farming methods and the principles of biodynamic viticulture.
The wine is creamy, with an elegant pale colour and shimmers yellow and gold. A delightful floral bouquet is complemented by notes of pear and quince jelly. This wine displays the bitterness typical of the variety as well as a pleasant smoothness that culminates in a subtly saline finish.
