Named in tribute to Napoleon, who is said to have cried “this spirit will be my favourite” when he first tasted the spirit, the La Favorite distillery is located at the entrance to Fort de France, Martinique. Founded in 1842, Habitation La Favorite originally produced cane sugar. When it was bought by Henri Dormoy, it was modernized and turned into a distillery. It was equipped with a steam machine which is still in service today. Production is aged primarily in ex-cognac casks.
A La Favorite Rivière Bel’’Air white rum from the 2021 harvest. Rivière Bel’’Air is a four-hectare plot that has been harvested separately since 2016. It is planted with red cane, a variety chosen for its high sugar content. A limited edition of 8,100 bottles.
