Information
The Château du Breuil distillery was created in 1954 by Philippe Bizouart, who came from a family of distillers. The château was built in the early 16th century. Over the years it has been used for many different activities, from flax spinning, to cheesemaking, chocolate making and cider production, before finally becoming the distillery we know today. It produces Pays D’‘Auge Calvados from its 42 hectares of orchards planted with no less than 22,000 apple trees in the chalky terroirs of Breuil-en-Auge and Saint-Philbert-des-Champs, and is today managed by Didier Bédu. Fairly logically, it produces its own cider and then, true to the Calvados Pays d’‘Auge appellation, distils this in pot stills, before then ageing the spirit in oak casks.
Château du Breuil 14 Year Old is a Calvados Pays d’’Auge produced through double distillation and using only apples. It is double matured for six years in Speyside whisky casks.
