Information
A small 12 hectare family domaine, Domaine Labet was created in 1974 by Alain and Josie Labet. François Labet is now in charge. He owns the Château de la Tour in Clos-Vougeot which was built in 1890 by his ancestors. With 6 hectares on the plot of Clos-Vougeot, the Labet family is the largest owner of this prestigious land. The domaine has been certified for organic farming since 1992. The production shows fine consistency in quality and character.
François Labet inherited the Château de Clos de Vougeot from his mother and the Pierre Labet domain from his father, which runs around 10 hectares of premier cru vineyards in Beaune and Meursault which were converted to organic vineyards in the early 2000s. Located on the edge of the Saint-Christophe, the terroir of the Tillets is composed of white marl, which yields delicate and earthy wines. The estate cultivates one hectare of young vines planted in 2003, where the grapes are grown, harvested, and vinified with immense care and attention.
Tillets is flawless and aromatic, with a beautiful golden colour and notes of acacia, citrus and white peach. The wine is matured for 12 months in oak barrels, half of which are new, creating subtle oak notes with overtones of hazelnut to compliment the full-bodied and abundant palate, and finishing with a delightful mineral quality. This wine is ideally enjoyed after cellaring for two to three years and accompanied with roast chicken, for example.
