The El Dorado brand was created by Demerara Distillers in 1992 with the launch of a 15 year old. The company wanted to created its own brand after the rum industry was nationalized by Guyana’s government in 1975. The first editions contained rum from Enmore, Uitvlugt and Diamond, but today everything is produced at Diamond, the last distillery still operating in the country since 2000. The El Dorado brand is now found in rums produced with various stills at Diamond, including the famous Heritage Stills Uitvlugt, Enmore, Port Mourant and Versailles.

El Dorado 15 Year Old is a blend of rums aged for 15 to 25 years in bourbon casks. They were distilled in the famous stills now kept at Diamond, the Enmore wooden Coffey still, the Diamond Coffey still, the Port Mourant wooden double pot still and the Versailles wooden pot still.
