Old Overholt is a brand created in 1810. It was bought by American Medicinal Spirits Co. during Prohibition, when there was a high concentration of brands and distilleries in the hands of the few businesses authorized to produced alcohol for medical purposes. National Distillers took over American Medicinal Spirits Co. at the end of Prohibition and continued production of Old Overholt, initially at the Broad Ford Overholt distillery (closed in 1951), then in Large. The brand was bought by Jim Beam in 1987, at the same time as Old Grand-dad.

Old Overholt is a rye whisky first created more than 150 years ago, as stated on its label. This bottle is from the 1980s. It was imported to France by Gouin.
