Information
Albert Bichot is an illustrious maison of Burgundy. The family settled in Burgundy in 1350 but it was only in the 19th century that it became interested in the vine and vineyards. In 1831, Bernard Bichot developed a trading house in his name. Since 1996, Alberic Bichot (6th generation) has been working to raise the quality of wines produced. He acquired many plots, meaning that the maison now has 100 hectares of vineyards. Here we find the Clos Frantin on the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine du Pavillon and the Domaine Adélie on the Chalonnaise coast as well as the Domaine Long Depaquit in Chablis. These wines are certified as organic. At the same time, the maison carries out its trading business by purchasing only carefully selected grapes. The wines are all vinified in Beaune under the leadership of the very talented Alain Serveaux.
The Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot is a renowned climat of great stature situated in Chassagne-Montrachet. Known for its reds, it has, however, seen a large part of its land be converted to white wines for several years now. This Premier Cru Morgeot is an example of that. However, the excellent quality of its Chassagne-Montrachet red wines, often floral and elegant, do not leave any doubts. And let alone on this clay soil. The ground being a little denser here suits Pinot Noirs perfectly. The Chardonnay wines that are produced here have a great sensual side, a succulent character, sometimes a strand of tannins and a great breadth, all of which are reminiscent of beautiful local Pinot Noirs. So, here is a wonderful Chardonnay for all lovers of powerful, rounded, full-bodied white wines.
