Information
Marnier is owned by the Marnier Lapostole group, born from the marriage in 1876 of Louis-Alexandre Marnier and the granddaughter of Jean-Baptiste Lapostole, a liqueur producer who had opened a distillery in Beauphle-le-Château in 1827. A few years later, in 1890, Louis-Alexandre invented a cognac and bitter orange and cognac liqueur renamed Grand Marnier by the famous hotel-owner César Ritz, having first being released as Curaçao Marnier. The liqueur quickly became a hit and left a lasting impression on consumers. In 2016, the brand was bought by the Campari group.
A Marnier-Lapostolle Fine Champagne Cognac, produced from grapes grown in Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, the most central and prestigious crus in the appellation. We estimate this bottle, which was imported to Italy by Riviera, to be from the 1960s.
