Information
Originally known as Kilnflat, this distillery was renamed by Charles Kay in 1871. It was then bought by Hiram Walker, who used almost all of the malt for the Ballantine's blended whisky. For this reason, most Glenburgie single malts are only available as independent bottlings.
A Glenburgie 5 Year Old imported to Italy by Soffiantino in the 1980s. This was one of the rare official bottlings of Glenburgie available at the time. Earlier versions also exist, imported by Rival in the 1970s, also aged for five years but including the vintage. At the time, Italy was very fond of young whiskies, such as the Glen Grant 5 Year Old vintages imported by Armando Giovinetti.
