About the producer

J.M rum (for Jean-Marie Martin) is a rhum agricole produced since 1845 in Macouba, in the north-east of Martinique, between the River Roches and the Macouba River, at the foot of Mount Pelée. The distillery is located in the heart of the three-hundred-hectare estate of Fonds-Préville, which has existed since 1790.

About the wine

Distilled in 1987 in a traditional Creole double-column copper still, this Martinique rhum agricole is produced from sugar cane grown on a 400-hectares estate at the foot of Mount Pelée, between the Roches and Macouba rivers.
The combination of the volcanic terroir, the sun and the humidity creates an exceptional and very aromatic rum. JM rums also notably use very pure, mineral-rich spring water from Mount Pelée that brings lots of purity to the finished product. This aged Martinique rum was then matured for ten years in carefully selected oak casks, before being bottled at 50% ABV. Every year, the cellar master tops up the casks with rums of the same age to reduce the spirit’’s contact with oxygen and maintain the character of each vintage. An absolute must-try!
