Information
House of Lords is a brand of blended Scotch originally created by William Whiteley and later bought by Campbell Distillers (a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard). For a long time produced exclusively for export due to complaints surrounding the brand’‘s use of the name House of Lords, it only became available in the domestic market in 1996. The brand was especially popular in North America during Prohibition, where it was imported illegally by Whiteley’‘s partner (and renowned mafia boss) Frank Costello.
House of Lords 12 Year Old was a blend produced by William Whiteley & Co, a Pitlochry-based company that also produced the King’’s Ransom blend. The back label indicates the Glenforres-Glenlivet Distillery Company as the brand’’s supplier, a company whose name implies the existence of a distillery, which was in fact Edradour in its former guise. William Whiteley & Co also produced a vatted malt called Glenforres, composed of Edradour and another Highland whisky.
