Information
North British was founded in 1885 by a consortium of Scottish blenders who hoped to break DCL’‘s monopoly on grain distillation (now Diageo). It was for a long time the most productive grain distillery in Scotland and, although most of its production was reserved for blends, a few of its venerable single grains are still released.
A grain whisky from the North British distillery produced in 1962 and bottled after 45 years of maturation (cask #46556) for the Prestonfield collection. Andrew Symington, founder of Signatory Vintage, was at the time assistant manager of the renowned Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. He therefore helped select exclusive whiskies for the hotel before eventually starting his own independent bottling company. Many editions of the Prestonfield range have been bottled for La Maison du Whisky. A limited edition of 235 bottles.
