About the producer

Chequers is a brand founded by John McEwan & Co which was particularly popular in the United States in the 1960s. The various bottlings, including the Deluxe and 12 Year Old, included a significant contribution from the Linkwood distillery.

About the wine

A Scottish blend produced by John McEwan & Co Ltd and bottled no later than 1972 (inventory date found on the wooden crate) for the Italian importer Darma Import. This crate, is composed of 12 ceramic jugs in their cases. As the youngest whisky in these bottles is over 12 years old, the whiskies used in this blend must date from the late 1950s and probably include the Linkwood malt, as John McEwan held the distillery’’s distilling license. This blend was also for a time imported by Samaroli, Brescia. Bottle equipped with a ceramic cork stopper and transparent foil seal covered in an Italian tax strip.
