Information
Marie and Pierre Benetière are at the helm on this tiny Rhône domain. But quality in no way correlates to quantity here. Inspired by a sensitive philosophy of viticulture (eschewing pesticides and herbicides), they produce a small quantity of white and red wine which exhibit a rare purity and elegance.
From one of the region’s smallest domains, the Dolium cuvée is a result of sustainable agriculture. Pierre and Marie Benetière have banned all pesticides and herbicides from their vineyard. In the winery, the grapes are vinified with this respect for life in mind. The wine is made using whole harvests, little sulphur is added, and extraction is undertaken in moderation, much like the use of oak casks. Dolium is a rare gem, as it is only produced in vintages deemed to be of high enough quality. It comes from some of the prestigious Côte-Rôtie’s most beautiful parcels and just 300 bottles are made in a given year. In the glass we find all the majesty of the Syrah grape through an intense colour and an aromatic bouquet of red and black fruit, musk, pepper, violet, and spice. Structured by pleasant tannins, this cuvée can be enjoyed after a little ageing and will pair nicely will grilled meat, vegetable gratin, or mature cheese like parmesan.
