Information
Jean-Marie Fourrier took over the 10 hectare family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin in the 1990s at the age of 23. He gained his experience at Domaine Drouhin and from the legendary Henry Jayer and took over the family traditions. He has plots in Griotte-Chambertin and in the Clos St Jacques whose vines were planted at the beginning of the last century. Jean-Marie Fourier works his vines as naturally as possible, with very little intervention and with minimal use of sulphites and new wood. His wines are of a very high standard and are characterised by their great aromatic purity
With 10 hectares across mythical appellations like Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot, Jean-Marie Fourrier has been working his terroirs with great passion since the age of 23. Attentive to the smallest detail, he practices massal selection to replace his vines and refuses any use of chemical additives in the vineyard. During maceration and fermentation, extraction is intentionally gentle to preserve all the purity of the fruit. As little sulphur as possible is used during vinification. There is then an 18-month maturing process in oak barrels (20% new wood). The result is impressive, a premier cru chiselled by delicate and extremely delicate tannins. The most surprising aspect is its phenomenal length. A fine wine that will only improve as the decades go on.
