Information
Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.
Daniel Jiménez-Landi is one of the three founders of Comando G, a domain located near to Madrid. The philosophies used for each are therefore quite similar in style. The idea is to promote the terroir’s Grenache grapes by crafting complex wines and to keep yields low with low-intervention vinification. El Reventon is a single-varietal cuvée made from the vines of just one parcel, a parcel that spans 1 hectare and faces the south at around 1,000 metres of altitude. El Reventon gives off notes of red and black fruits, a powerful and generous wine. To serve at around 16°C. Pair this cuvée with a beef bourguignon or filet mignon.
