Saint-Joseph Les Royes Domaine Courbis
Information
About the producer

Domaine Courbis is a family estate that dates back to the 16th century. Today, Dominique and Laurent cultivate 35 hectares of vines planted mostly on steep slopes. They produce some 160,000 cuvées in the Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Crozes-Hermitages and Saint Péray appellations. Maceration takes place in temperature controlled concrete vats and maturation in new oak barrels

About the wine

This cuvée is made completely of Syrah grapes from a particularly steep clay-limestone terroir. Aged in oak barrels for 16 and 18 months, it unfurls a lovely garnet hue which exudes notes of élevage (wood, smokiness, roasting,) and dark fruit. Its soft tannins give it great length and good aging potential.
