Information
In the aftermath of World War I, Roger Pouillon began to write the first chapter of a family saga and of an outstanding complex and vibrant Champagne. His son James then played a key role in developing it, before handing the baton to the third generation represented by Fabrice. The family trademark is innovation combined with a belief in cherishing traditional methods. The vineyard spans 6.5 hectares divided into 36 outstanding parcels in some of the finest terroirs in the region in Aÿ Grand Cru, Mareuil sur Aÿ, Mutigny, and Epernay. The grape varieties planted also contribute to the quality of Champagnes produced. The additional challenge facing the Champagne house is allowing the grapes to express the minerality of their terroir using integrated vineyard management techniques based on the biological cycle and horse-drawn ploughing.
As Marie Jacqueson told us, this cuvée can be enjoyed even after just one year, although it’s best to wait 3. The wine is superb and its nose and mouth alike offer an explosion of fruity notes. It is redolent with delicious notes of cherry. Its texture, freshness and firm tannins allow confer aging potential and delicious pairings with red meat.
