Information
Villa Pociago is a historic domain in the Fleurie appellation. Since 2008 it has been under the charge of the the Henriots, a family from the Champagne region who also own Champagne Henriot, Bouchard Père & Fils and William Fèvre. The vineyard spans 49 hectacres and is mostly situated on fairly steep slopes. In constant pursuit of finesse and elegance, the quality of production has progressed enormously in the last few years.
This Gamay has been vinified to preserve the freshness of the fruit. So the harvest is partially scraped, the vatting is long (between 8 and 20 days and punching down and smooth pumping over have been regularly done.) Élevage took place in barrels of several wines which therefore do not give any woody aromas to the wine. On tasting, it reveals a beautiful ruby hue with violet hints, the nose is fine and elegant and exudes notes of black fruit such as cherry and blueberry, some floral touches enhance it and the supple and crunchy palate unfurls easily. This is an ideal wine to discover with friends and can be paired with roasted poultry for example.
