Information
Reynon Chateau, in AOC Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, is owned by the Dubourdieu family (Doisy-Daëne, Clos Floridène, Cantegril…). The vineyard is spread out over 20 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot and almost 13 hectares of white grapes (Sauvignon and Sémillon). The viticulture is integrated, using no herbicides and the soil is ploughed; the property is also in the process of phasing out its use of synthetic pesticides. In order to balance its carbon footprint, the Dubourdieu family also manages a forest estate that is equal to the size of its vineyards. The château produces a red wine of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, and for the vintages that allow it, a fortified wine of Cadillac appellation. This is a classic Bordeaux.
This cuvée comes from deep gravelly soils with a clay and limestone subsoil. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit-Verdot have been vinified at moderate temperatures to extract maximum colour, flavours and textures and preserve the freshness of the fruit. The wine has been aged for one year in French oak barriques (1/3 new). On tasting, it offers up typical-yet superb - notes of liquorice, blackcurrant and smokiness. The palate is simultaneously velvety, fine and powerful.
