Information
Bodegas Viu is now one of the pioneers of the Colchagua Valley. It was founded in 1935 in Santiago de Chile by a Catalonian immigrant, Miguel Viu-Garcia, who launched a négociant business. In 1954, the Viu family bought a vineyard so as to produce their own wine. The in 1966, they bought the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco, an old domain with pre-phylloxeric vines in the Colchagua valley. They took inspiration from the technologies developed in the Mendoza region. The domain has thus always been in advance in terms of viticultural practices and vinification. The domain is nowadays one of the leaders of the wines of Colchagua Valley.
El Incidente is the domain's flagship wine in terms of Carménère. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of intense black fruits with a touch of undergrowth and nots of spices. The palate is fruity and oaky, with grilled notes of cocoa and white tobacco. The wine is nicely structured, with good length on the palate. A pleasant acidity counterbalanced the tannic power. Will reward cellaring.
