Information
Located between Uzès and Sommières, surrounded by scrubland, Mas d'Espanet has been run by Denys and Agnès Armand since 1980. The abandoned domain needed considerable work to maintain the old vines, producing local red varietals and plantations of white grapes chosen for their emotional appeal – and for the terroir, of course. In 1999, a winery was built for vinifying the grapes from this 20-hectare vineyard, which is both organically and biodynamically certified.
This cuvée is dominated by notes of small black fruit enhanced by menthol and mineral notes. It comes from old vines of Carignan and Syrah which have been vinified in a traditional method with punch down and maceration for three weeks. The wine has been aged in 50l foudres and gives a soft and refined palate. This accessible wine entices us with its freshness and delicacy, allowing delicious pairings with a prune tajine or duck breast with figs.
