Information
Formerly known as Grand Lauze, Domaine Ledogar was taken over in 1998 by sons Xavier and Mathieu, eschewing the local co-operative in favour of an individual operation. Organic certification was obtained in 2009, but the Ledogars also try to embrace biodynamic principles. Lunar cycles are followed, ploughing is done by horses and donkeys, and in the summer time, "home-made compost" – made from cow dung and grape pomace – is spread. Two-thirds of the vineyards are planted with Carignan and Grenache, with vine ages between 60 and 120 years. A very promising domain for this young local Boutenac wine!
A very nice Corbières with intense fruit and a juicy and delicate texture. The southern varieties in this blend are planted on clay and limestone terrain and make for a wine with aromas of dark fruit and velvety tannins. The cuvée is vinified without additives and as no sulphur is added during élevage or bottling, its sulphite content is below 15 milligrams per litre.
