Information
The Rochegrès vineyard in Moulin-à-Vent, Beaujolais was bought by Maison Albert Bichot in 2014. Only 3.5 hectacres, the majority of the vines are 80 to 100 years old. Like the other estates owned by this historic maison, Rochegrès has been allowed to keep its independance. Alain Margerand, head winemaker since 1987, continues to hold this position. This domain produces beautifully made wines which show promise of becoming a benchmark in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation.
This wine from the Rochegrès estate is matured in oak for 8 to 12 months and is a beautiful ruby colour. On the nose there are aromas of ripe black fruit (particularly cherry) while on the palate there is a good tannic structure, a well integrated acidity and a beautiful finish. This cuvée would suit roast meats, game and dishes in a sauce. There is certainly some ageing potential.
