Information
One hundred years ago, Valentine and her husband Arthur Delon inherited 36 hectares of vineyard that were passed down from generation to generation. Over the decades, the domain expanded and today boasts 64 hectares; 50 of these are planted with vines. In 1999, their descendant Emmanuelle moved to the farm to become a winegrower with the support of her son. Her partner Luc Vignal, a former cellarman, joined the business in 2008 and helps them produce their 11 cuvées. Most of the wines are single variety and organic. The vineyard is planted in the south of the Costières-de-Nimes appellation on a terroir of galets roulés that allows the rainwater to seep between the pebbles and feed the vines in the dry summer months. 10 of the 50 hectares of vines are grown organically with traditional cultivation methods.
This Syrah is grown on sunny hillsides composed of pebbles and pudding stones. Destemmed, vinified in concrete vats, poured into previously-used casks (2-4 times) with indigenous yeasts and matured for 18 months in Burgundy casks, it produces a wine with a ruby -red colour and aromas of red berries, menthol and white pepper, as well as a fresh, slightly voluminous mouthfeel. It is therefore best enjoyed with white meat, such as roast pork with fruit.
