Information
Albert Bichot is an illustrious maison of Burgundy. The family settled in Burgundy in 1350 but it was only in the 19th century that it became interested in the vine and vineyards. In 1831, Bernard Bichot developed a trading house in his name. Since 1996, Alberic Bichot (6th generation) has been working to raise the quality of wines produced. He acquired many plots, meaning that the maison now has 100 hectares of vineyards. Here we find the Clos Frantin on the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine du Pavillon and the Domaine Adélie on the Chalonnaise coast as well as the Domaine Long Depaquit in Chablis. These wines are certified as organic. At the same time, the maison carries out its trading business by purchasing only carefully selected grapes. The wines are all vinified in Beaune under the leadership of the very talented Alain Serveaux.
Savigny-lès-Beaune has been officially recognised as an appellation since 1937. This status only applies to the commune of Savigny which lies just a few kilometres north of Beaune, at the foot of the western slopes of the Corton mountain. Winegrowing techniques at all Albert Bichot’s domaines closely follow organic farming methods, but at this domaine, the grapes are supplied by a certified organic producer in Savigny and made into wine by Maison Albert Bichot.
