Information
Founded 5 generations ago, Domaine André Berthet-Rayne in Cairanne produces organic wines in the Cairann and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations. The winemaking savoir faire of this family is evident and the terroir is blessed with a stony soil rich in clay and limestone. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan are used for the reds and Clairette, Roussanne, Marsanne and Bourboulenc for the whites. A domain to discover.
Yet again Domaine Berthet-Rayne has created a Cairanne with fine aromatic complexity which combines delicate fruity and spicy aromas with empyreumatic notes. Juicy and fresh, it is flavoursome with extremely silky flesh and tannins. A harmonious wine that goes well with small game, roast meat or slightly spicy dishes. It is the old vines (which have provided fruit for 60 years on a clay and chalk-rich soil) which provide such indulgence. The yields are controlled (30hl /ha). The destemmed grapes are fermented, with pump-over and rack and return. During the 20-day maceration period, temperatures are kept at 25°C to obtain very refined wines.
