Information
Laurent Roumier, the cousin of Christophe (from the George Roumier domain) has long been associated with his brother. Since 1991 he has managed a four hectare-domain of rented vineyards, which he increased to seven hectares in 2005. These vineyards spread over the Bourgogne, Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny, Clos Vougeot and Bonnes-Mares appellations. Laurent Roumier traditionally cultivates and vinifies using the old methods of treading and pumping over, without a pre-fermentation "cold soak", followed by a 15 to 18 month maturation in oak casks.
A man of few words, Laurent is fairly secretive when it comes to his "savoir-faire". However, his mastery is highly regarded amongst enlightened connoisseurs. His range includes wines made to be enjoyed soon (La Poirelotte) as well as cuvées with excellent ageing potential. Further information :Read the article about the domain Laurent Roumier on the blog
Laurent Roumier is the only producer of Hautes Côtes on the commune of Chambolle-Musigny. His wine is naturally similar to Chambolle, coming from a very particular terroir of less than 2 hectares: the hamlet "La Poirelotte". The vines are planted on the slopes at 350 metres, on a shallow soil that gives the wines this side of the Côte de Nuits their ethereal and lace-like structure. Traditionally vinified, like all of the wines, it is matured in oak barrels (a small proportion of which is new), for one year to allow the fruits and lightness to express itself.
