Information
Arnaldo Caprai was a business man in the textiles industry. In 1971 his life took a new direction when he acquired the Val du Maggio domaine near Montefalco. He cultivated 5 hectares of Sagrantino vines there. Seventeen years later in 1988, his son Marco took over the helm and undertook projects to extend the domaine and introduce technological innovations.
One of the domain's unmissable wines: the Sagrantino grapes have been matured for 24 months in barrels before continuing to age for 6 months in bottles in the cellars. This extended, careful ageing has enabled this wine to develop a highly complex nose marked by notes of jammy black berries, pepper, mint and cocoa. The palate is velvety and intense; its tannic structure lends it complexity and aromatic persistence.
