About the producer

As this domain on the hillsides of Ampuis has been in the family for seven generations, it was perfectly natural for Stéphane Ogier to take over from his father Michel. Having learned his craft in Burgundy, he has decided to produce single parcel wines to achieve the best expression of each terroir. He also strives constantly for elegance and finesse. Today, the vines are planted on 27 hectares of granite and shale soil and cultivated sustainably. Tillage, organic treatments, no yeast and a short maceration process are the watchwords.

About the wine

Viognier de Rosine is, as its name suggests, a single-grape Viognier wine. It is cultivated in the granitic soil of the commune of Tupin-Semons, on the edge of appellation, hence its IGP Collines Rhodaniennes classification. However, this lively wine has the most remarkable aromatic intensity. Its fruity notes of peach, apricot, citrus and white flowers intermingle with great refinement. Stéphane Ogier produces the wine by harvesting the grapes by hand, then conducting direct pressing, fermentation in barrique barrels and wooden tuns with native yeasts, and finally a 10-month élevage in barrique barrels and tuns on fine lees. Viognier de Rosine is definitely a wine for drinking with good food, and will be delicious with a shrimp risotto.
