        Pluscarden Valley

Located in the Pluscarden Valley in the north of Speyside, Miltonduff finally began operating legally in 1824 after many years of illicit distillation. At the end of the 19th century, it was one of Scotland’‘s main producers. The distillery was bought by Hiram Walker in 1936 and Pernod Ricard in 2005. Miltonduff’‘s fresh and light spirit is a key ingredient in the Ballantine’‘s blend, with single malts remaining fairly rare, except for a handful of bottlings entrusted to Gordon & MacPhail and independent bottlings. Between 1964 and 1981, the distillery used a pair of Lomond stills to produce the Mosstowie whisky, which can still be found with a small number of independent bottlers.
