Le Jardin de Petit-Village 2011
The wine
The property's second wine, Le Jardin de Petit-Village is made purely from Merlot and aged for one year in used barriques (one vintage). More approachable than its older sibling, this very elegant and harmonious wine is already delicious in its youth and makes a marvellous pairing with tender meats and vegetable gratins.
About the Producer Château Petit Village
Owned by Axa Millésimes, Château Petit Village is surrounded by the châteaux of Certan de May, La Conseillante and Bearegard. The vineyard consists of a single block of 10.5 hectares, planted on the upper part of the Pomerol plateau. The terroir is made up of deep gravel coated with light clay on a subsoil of iron-rich clay, or alios, characteristic of Pomerol's great wines. The soil is uniform throughout the vineyard. The Axa Millésimes group has carried out major modernisation work in the winery with the assistance of consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt.
