Lot presentation

Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru Georges Noëllat (Domaine) 2001

The wine

There’s no doubt that domain Georges Noëllat is now part of the elite of the Côte de Nuits. Domain Georges Noëllat is, first and foremost a story of terroir and family. The domain spans 5.5 hectares of premiers and grands crus in the prestigious rolling hills of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Since Maxime Cheurlin took over management of the estate (his first vintage was 2010), the house style has been revolutionised. The watchword here is showcasing the terroir. In the vineyards, everything is done by hand, with no chemical treatments and natural fermentations. He seeks freshness, density and opulence in youth, all of which will become refined over time, gaining in complexity and refinement. His Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru delivers notes of fresh red fruits on the nose, with floral hints and a practically undetectable oakiness. On the palate, the wine is generous yet refined, with a pleasant density and exceptional length. The tannins are elegant and refined; the freshness and sumptuousness perfectly complementary and harmonious. This wine is made for cellaring and will begin to express its full potential after ten years in the bottle.
