Intensity
A full-bodied and lively Sancerre from some of the domain's oldest vines.
More infoLucien Crochet’s prestige cuvée is a blend from the oldest vines on the domain; they grow in a chalky terroir. These vines draw their nutrients from shallow soil that is easy to work and drains well. The ground is worked in a way that encourages microbial life, so grass is grown in the vineyard and the plants are pruned Guyot-style. 60 years old on average, the Sauvignon blanc vines are harvested by hand.
In the winery, whole bunches are pressed pneumatically. The must ferments for 30 days in temperature-controlled vats (70%) and in demi-muids (30%).
In the glass this wine has a pale, yellow colour with hints of gold. It gives off a powerful aromatic bouquet marked by notes of fleshy, ripe white fruits (peach, pear), white flowers, elderberry, and fresh almond. These aromas make way for a rich palate balanced by a certain freshness with a peppery side. This is a gastronomic wine that will pair nicely with crustaceans, green vegetable gratin, or noble fish.

About the Producer Lucien Crochet
Domain Lucien Crochet is a family domain that has been handed down from generation to generation. Lucien Crochet combined his father's domain with that of his wife's father, Lucien Picard, who was in fact one of the first in the Sancerre region to bottle his own wines. The vineyard spans 38 hectares: 29 of Sauvignon and 9 of Pinot Noir. One of the appellation's flagship names.
