Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Pierre Damoy 1993
The wine
Damoy's Chapelle-Chambertin wines are often more delicate and flexible than other Gevrey-Chambertin wines. A note to the connoisseur: this is a wine of great refinement, to be paired with white meats!
About the Producer Pierre Damoy
Domaine Pierre Damoy in Gevrey-Chambertin has an exceptional wine heritage, covering 10.5 hectares including 8 on the grand crus Clos de Bèze, Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin. Pierre Damoy took over the family farm in 1992 and was as successful as his terroirs, both when working the vines (with responsible, sustainable agriculture) and in his precise vinification. He produces a fine range of wines, classical and powerful, perfect for good élevage. The production is complemented by purchasing some grapes for the introductory wines to the domaine’s range. Pierre Damoy can boast the largest, single ownership area (5ha) of the famous Grand Cru Clos de Bèze. Another interesting fact is that he has preserved a very old vineyard in Chapelle-Chambertin. Not content with merely making fine wines, he has implemented responsible, sustainable farming (without fertiliser) for many years and each vine stock is rigorously cared for. Fertiliser has been abandoned and rigorous triage of the vines produces classical, consistent wines.
