Château Picque Caillou 2000
The wine
Pique Caillou produces an elegant red Pessac. Concentrated in its youth, it ages gracefully and thus exhales autumnal aromas of dried flowers, cigar boxes or even leather.
About the Producer Château Picque Caillou
Corresponding to the northern part of Graves, (formerly Hautes Graves), the region of Pessac and Léognan is a communal appellation, created in 1987. With its unusual terroir, it is made up of gravelly slopes and uneven pebbles. Its wine-making qualities were moreover sufficiently conclusive as in 1855 Haut-Brion featured alongside the Chateaux of the Médoc in the group of premier crus of imperial classification. The last vineyard in the commune of Mérignac, Picque Caillou, is a worthy representative of the appellation, for both white and red wines. Its name reminds us of the pebbly soil (cailloux), brought by the Garonne river thousands of years ago. The vineyard covers about 30 ha.
