Chambolle-Musigny Clair Daü 1975
About the Producer Clair Daü
In 1985 the Clair-Daü domain was split up after 76 years of winemaking (it was founded in 1919 by Marsannay). Over the years, Joseph Clair and Marguerite Daü have built up the domain's reputation. The incessant family quarrels, that had originally been the making of the house, eventually became too much and the domain was sold to the Maison Louis Jadot in 1985. Bruno Clair, Joseph's grandson, successfully pursued the ancient family tradition by adding his parent's and sibling's parcels to his own (Clos de Bèze, Cazetiers, Clos St-Jacques, Vosne-Romanée, Clos du Fonteny and Chambolle-Musigny). Today he is at the head of a 23-hectare domain, which has several grand crus parcels at Gevrey. The few remaining bottles of the domain benefit now from a true cult among lovers of great Burgundy wines.
